Wastewater Technical Lead
Location: Reading (sites across the local area)
Salary: Up to £48,000 + 15% annual bonus + excellent benefits
Are you an experienced wastewater professional looking for a role where your technical expertise can make a real impact on environmental performance, infrastructure improvements and essential services?
We are looking for a Wastewater Technical Lead to join a growing utilities business delivering critical wastewater services across secure sites in the Reading area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced wastewater specialist to take a leading technical role, working with operational teams, clients and regulators to improve performance and drive continuous improvement.
The Role
As Wastewater Technical Lead, you will provide technical expertise across wastewater treatment processes and wastewater networks, helping to ensure assets operate safely, efficiently and in line with environmental and regulatory requirements.
You will use your technical knowledge and data analysis skills to identify improvement opportunities, investigate network issues and present recommendations directly to clients and key stakeholders, including the Environment Agency.
This is a varied role combining wastewater expertise, problem solving, stakeholder management and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership across wastewater treatment works and wastewater networks.
• Analyse wastewater network performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Review operational data and produce technical reports and recommendations.
• Present findings and improvement plans to clients and stakeholders face-to-face.
• Work with the Environment Agency and support environmental compliance requirements.
• Support operational teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Use wastewater network investigations, including CCTV surveys, to identify issues and solutions.
• Support MCERTS compliance activities and monitoring requirements.
• Contribute to wastewater improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Share knowledge and provide technical support to colleagues.
About You
You will have a strong background within wastewater and be confident applying your technical expertise in a customer-facing environment.
You will ideally have experience in:
• Wastewater treatment processes.
• Wastewater networks and asset performance.
• CCTV network investigations.
• MCERTS monitoring and compliance.
• Environmental regulations and working with regulatory bodies.
• Analysing technical data and presenting recommendations.
• Working with clients and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be representing the business with customers, operational teams and regulators.
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the sites involved, the successful candidate will be required to achieve the highest level of UK security clearance. Candidates must therefore be eligible to obtain the required clearance.
