About the role
Admin Officer
Location: Reading, RG1-1HE Monday-Friday 9am-5pm Pay rate: £12.86ph
If you're calm under pressure and enjoy helping people navigate complex processes, this is a fantastic opportunity to support justice in a fast-paced court environment. Our Client is looking for an Admin Officer who can deliver confident customer service, clear communication, and strong administrative support-face to face, by phone, and in writing.
What you'll be doing:
* Check and maintain accurate vacancy details, avoiding template errors
* Undertake administrative tasks to prepare for, facilitate and help conclude all types of hearings
* Provide support and signposting to users and stakeholders via face to face engagement, incoming/outbound telephone contact, and correspondence in multiple formats
* Use HMCTS service scripts and knowledge articles to guide users to the right services with clear, specific information-especially where needs may be complex
* Follow complaints policies and procedures, responding promptly to prevent escalation and updating OPTIC as required
* Support operational duties using standard operating procedures to meet performance targets and maintain service standards
* Handle case files with accurate data entry and secure information management, complying with retention and data loss protocols
* Assist with jury service tasks (selection, deferral, reassignment, attendance tracking), and process related expenses and court fees
* Support listing and scheduling, including urgent responsiveness and adherence to listing policies
* Assist with enforcement support, including financial assessments, fine collection support, and producing basic statistical/financial reports
* Contribute to health and safety operations (PEEPs, facility checks, issue logging, and key/safety governance under team leader guidance)
What you'll bring:
* Confidence communicating clearly with a wide range of people, including those with specific or complex needs
* A careful, process-led approach to administration, accuracy and data handling
* The ability to prioritise in a busy environment, taking immediate action when required
* Professional judgement and willingness to follow policies and procedures consistently
Additional information:
* You'll play a key role in supporting hearings, helping ensure users can participate effectively in justice
