About the role

Provide Education is seeking a patient, caring and dedicated 1:1 Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the DN17 area, providing individual support to a child who requires additional assistance to access learning and thrive within the Early Years environment.

This is a full-time, temporary position, offering the opportunity to provide consistent, one-to-one support within a nurturing Early Years classroom.

The school has a strong focus on inclusive practice and pupil wellbeing, with a collaborative staff team and clear support structures in place. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience supporting children with additional needs within an Early Years setting.

1:1 Early Years Teaching Assistant Role Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting children within an Early Years or primary school setting
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable
  • Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties or SEMH
  • Ability to build strong, trusting and supportive relationships with young children
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Ability to support children’s communication, social development and independence
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

The Successful 1:1 Early Years Teaching Assistant Will

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child throughout the school day
  • Support the child to access Early Years learning and activities
  • Encourage communication, interaction and social development
  • Adapt activities and learning opportunities to meet the child’s individual needs
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Monitor and communicate progress and any concerns to the appropriate staff
  • Support the child during transitions, routines and different classroom activities
