About the role

Provide Education is seeking a patient, caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the DN18 area, providing support to pupils within a Year 6 classroom.

This is a full-time, temporary position, offering the opportunity to support pupils with their learning and development within a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

The school has a strong focus on pupil progress and inclusive practice, with a collaborative staff team and clear support structures in place. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience working within Key Stage 2 and supporting pupils as they prepare for secondary school.

Year 6 Teaching Assistant Role Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role
  • Experience supporting children within a UK primary school setting
  • Experience working within Key Stage 2 is desirable
  • Understanding of the needs of pupils approaching the transition to secondary school
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Ability to support pupils with their learning, social development and independence
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

The Successful Year 6 Teaching Assistant Will

  • Support pupils within a Year 6 classroom throughout the school day
  • Work alongside the class teacher to support the delivery of engaging lessons
  • Provide individual and small-group support where required
  • Support pupils with English, mathematics and wider curriculum subjects
  • Assist pupils in preparing for their Key Stage 2 SATs
  • Adapt activities to meet different learning needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence
  • Support pupils with their social and emotional development
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Monitor and communicate pupil progress and any concerns to the appropriate staff
  • Support pupils with their transition to secondary school
