Management Accountant

𝗔 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿.

I’m working with a growing Leeds business looking for a technically strong accountant to take ownership of its management accounts, lead a small team and become a key part of the finance function.

You’ll report directly to the Financial Controller, with responsibility for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls and supporting the wider business with meaningful financial insight.

It’s an opportunity to make the role your own, build credibility with senior stakeholders and broaden your experience beyond the core accounting responsibilities. As you develop, there’s scope to take on more responsibility and work towards a wider finance leadership role, with Finance Manager a potential progression route.

The immediate focus is on getting the fundamentals right – so they’re looking for someone who enjoys the detail, takes pride in producing reliable numbers and has the confidence to work independently.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲:
• Own the production of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and robust financial controls.
• Support budgeting and forecasting, working with department leads.
• Manage cash flow and support treasury activity.
• Lead on audit activity and support statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Provide financial insight to operational teams and senior stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Manage and develop the a Junior Accountant, whilst working alongside transactional finance managers.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿:
• Ideally a fully qualified accountant, however a finalist may be considered (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Technically sound, confident with detailed reconciliations and material balance sheet items.
• Commercially curious, with the ambition to take on broader responsibility over time.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝘁:
• £45,000 – £53,000 salary, depending on experience and qualification.
• Circa £2,500 bonus (based on personal and company performance)
• The opportunity to take ownership of a key finance role in a growing business.
• Scope to develop towards a potential Finance Manager position.
• 25 days’ holiday, increasing with service, plus the option to buy additional days.
• Private medical insurance and 5% employer pension contribution.

The role is Leeds-based and office-based five days a week initially, with a view to hybrid working once you’re established.
