Design Manager

Morson Edge are working with a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join their Design & Advanced Technology team, delivering high-profile water infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping major infrastructure programmes, leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering innovative solutions across the full project lifecycle.

The Role:

You will be responsible for leading and coordinating design delivery across complex water sector projects, ensuring high-quality technical outputs while managing programme, cost, and stakeholder expectations.

Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you will support both project delivery and bid activity, contributing to major UK infrastructure schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams across design delivery
• Oversee and review technical deliverables including reports, drawings, and calculations
• Ensure outputs align with project scope, programme, budget, and quality standards
• Drive technical input across complex design packages and project stages
• Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams
• Support bid proposals and contribute to winning new work
• Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
• Ensure compliance with relevant design codes, standards, and CDM regulations

About You:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) preferred
• Strong experience managing design delivery within a consultancy environment
• Proven background in the water sector (essential)
• Good understanding of design standards, NEC contracts, and regulatory requirements
• Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, collaborative, and able to work with minimal supervision

What’s on Offer:

• £50 – £67 per hour (Inside IR35)
• 12-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
• Hybrid working (typically 3 days office/site)
• Locations: Epsom, London, Peterborough, or Cambridge (flexible)
