What type of things will I be working on?
On this 2-year Graduate Scheme, starting in September 2027, you’ll build on your existing programming skills while working as part of a professional software development team.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across the Software Development Lifecycle, working on real products and projects that may include both challenging development work and R&D. You’ll have opportunities to rotate across different product teams and develop your skills through a combination of practical experience, formal training and mentoring.
You’ll develop experience in areas including:
- Software development using languages such as C# and C++, with WPF and other technologies depending on the project
- Agile and Scrum methodologies, working collaboratively within product teams
- Requirements gathering, planning and software architecture
- Version control, branching and continuous integration
- Configuration, risk and release management
- Working with large, complex codebases and distributed development teams
The scheme is designed to challenge you to develop into a professional Software Engineer, giving you the technical knowledge, practical experience and confidence to contribute to a permanent role within an area that interests you.

By the end of the scheme, you will have developed an idea of which area you would like to join as a full Software Engineer where your career can grow to roles such as:
- Senior Software Engineer
- Principal Software Engineer
- Technical Manager

Where will I be working?
This role is based out of one of our main sites near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. Since our Renishaw sites are located in semi-rural areas, applicants should ensure they have reliable means of transport to reach the site, as public transportation options may be limited. Alternatively, applicants should be willing to relocate to the local area.
What do I need?
We are looking for candidates with a 2:1, or higher, degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or similar. Physics, Mathematics or similar degrees are acceptable if experience and interest in writing software code is evident. A 2:2 degree is considered dependent on strong grades at A-Level in STEM subjects.
