Job Description

PK Education are recruiting for a qualified Geography Teacher to join a large, well-established 11–18 secondary school in Sheffield for a maternity cover position starting in November.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Geography specialist looking for a long-term role within a supportive and ambitious department. Geography has a strong presence within the school, with students studying the subject throughout KS3, as a GCSE option at KS4 and with Geography also offered at A-Level.

The school offers an ambitious and diverse curriculum and has a strong focus on providing opportunities beyond the classroom. This includes an extensive enrichment programme, with previous Sixth Form Geography students having had the opportunity to take part in an overseas trip to Iceland.

The school was rated Good across all areas in its most recent Ofsted inspection, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, leadership and Sixth Form provision. Inspectors also highlighted the school’s ambitious curriculum, strong subject knowledge amongst teachers and positive student behaviour.

The Role

– Full-time Geography Teacher
– Maternity cover starting November 2026
– Teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4
– Potential opportunity to teach Geography at KS5 depending on experience
– Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the Geography curriculum
– Taking responsibility for marking, assessment and student progress
– Working collaboratively within an established Humanities department
– Maintaining high standards of classroom and behaviour management

The Ideal Candidate

– Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
– Have experience teaching Geography within a UK secondary school
– Confident teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4
– KS5 / A-Level Geography experience would be advantageous
– Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills
– Able to commit to a long-term maternity cover position from November
– Hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS Check
