Senior Transport Planner

Time Appointments are working with a successful and established business that is looking for an experienced Senior Transport Operator to join their team based in Southampton.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced transport professional who enjoys being at the heart of a busy operation and is ready to take on a little more responsibility.

You’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the transport operation, coordinating drivers and vehicles, dealing with customers and suppliers, and making sure everything stays on track when things don’t quite go to plan.

Working as part of a busy transport team, your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the day-to-day transport operation
• Planning and scheduling vehicle and driver movements
• Communicating with drivers, customers and internal teams
• Monitoring deliveries and resolving any issues or delays
• Ensuring transport activities are carried out safely and efficiently
• Supporting driver management and day-to-day operational queries
• Maintaining accurate transport records and documentation
• Monitoring vehicle availability and operational requirements
• Working closely with the wider team to maximise efficiency
• Helping to identify and implement improvements across the transport operation
• Providing support and guidance to the wider transport team

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous experience in a transport planning, coordination or operator role
• Good knowledge of transport operations and logistics
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities
• Good IT skills and experience using transport or logistics software
• Excellent communication skills
• The confidence to deal with drivers, customers and suppliers
• Strong problem-solving skills and a calm approach under pressure
• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
