About the role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting young people who may experience a range of SEMH needs, challenging behaviours and barriers to learning. The Behaviour Mentor will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to build positive relationships, encourage engagement and help young people develop the skills they need to succeed.
Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours is essential for this Behaviour Mentor role. Experience within a school, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist setting would be highly desirable.
The school is happy to consider applications from both primary and secondary Behaviour Mentors. The successful Behaviour Mentor will be calm, patient and resilient, with the confidence to manage challenging situations and build positive relationships with young people.
Job Role:
- Working as a Behaviour Mentor supporting young people with SEMH needs.
- Providing individual and small-group support to students.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Supporting students who display challenging behaviours.
- Helping students to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour.
- Encouraging positive engagement with learning and school life.
- Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.
- Supporting students to overcome social, emotional and academic barriers.
