About the School

The school is an independent specialist setting supporting young people aged 7–19 with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning disabilities.

The school provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment, with small class sizes and high levels of individualised support. Students benefit from 1:1 and small-group learning designed around their individual abilities and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider SEN team.
  • Contribute to individual learning plans and personalised education programmes.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and participation in lessons.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support students’ wider academic, social and emotional development.

Requirements

  • QTS or a recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 months’ UK teaching experience within an educational setting.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level, particularly KS3 and/or KS4.
  • Previous experience working within SEN, SEND, specialist education or alternative provision is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of differentiation and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Patient, nurturing and flexible approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to complete a new Enhanced DBS check.

What We Offer

  • Competitive daily rate of £174–£220 per day.
  • Long-term, ongoing teaching opportunity.
  • Opportunity to work within a specialist SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting students with a wide range of additional needs.
  • Dedicated support from your Balfor Education consultant.
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to students’ learning, confidence and development.
