About the role

Ackworth Howard School is seeking a reliable, conscientious, and committed Cleaning Assistant to join our premises team. This is an important role within a school that places care, respect, and excellence at the heart of its work, guided by our vision of Educating for life in all its fullness (John 10:10).

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Has previous cleaning experience, ideally within a school or similar setting (although this is not essential).
  • Is reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety and follows procedures carefully.
  • Can work efficiently and methodically, managing time well.
  • Is trustworthy and discreet, understanding the need for confidentiality in a school environment.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Cleaning classrooms, corridors, toilets, and shared areas to a high standard.
  • Ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are used safely and stored correctly.
  • Reporting any maintenance or health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Supporting the upkeep of a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
