Democratic Services and Scrutiny Officer

We are looking for someone enthusiastic to join our small but dynamic Democratic Services Team which provides governance support to a wide range of Committees, Boards and Panels as well as working closely with Councillors and Senior Officers.

You will play a significant role in supporting the Council's overview and scrutiny function, including providing advice and guidance to both internal and external colleagues, undertaking associated research, preparing reports and co­ordinating work programmes.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal abilities
• Awareness of the sensitivities involved in working within a political environment
• Diplomatic and tactful approach to problem-solving
• Collaborative team player committed to delivering excellent customer service

With the ability to use initiative and experience of using IT systems you will also help us develop our digital agenda, particularly in relation to the modernisation and digitalisation of governance processes.  Experience of Mod Gov would be beneficial.

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months.
