About the role

Job summary

Ofgem is exploring fairer and simpler ways to fund Great Britain’s move towards a cleaner energy system. We’re looking for two Policy Managers to help shape our approach and ensure consumers remain at the heart of it.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers – especially vulnerable people.

These are permanent opportunities to join our high-profile Cost Allocation and Recovery Review, working on questions that cut across the energy system and directly affect consumers. You’ll be getting to grips with complex policy challenges, exploring new possibilities and helping develop approaches that can deliver as Great Britain moves towards a cleaner energy future.

With the programme spanning several areas of Ofgem, you’ll gain a broad perspective on how energy regulation works and how different decisions connect. You’ll have the chance to deepen your policy expertise, learning from a wide range of specialists, and develop a rounded understanding that can take your career in a new direction.

What’s more, you’ll discover real scope to think independently and bring your own perspective to the debate. You’ll be encouraged to weigh up competing evidence, challenge assumptions and develop well-reasoned recommendations, building your expertise as a policy professional along the way.

We’re looking for people with policy and regulation skills who can identify and analyse complex problems and work with analytical, technical and legal professionals to develop effective solutions. You’ll be able to think strategically, work confidently with quantitative and qualitative evidence and communicate complex issues clearly to non-expert audiences. Experience delivering work against challenging deadlines with minimal supervision will also be essential.

In return, you’ll have the chance to develop your policy career through work that brings together some of the biggest questions around affordability, fairness and the transition to cleaner energy. You’ll be part of an environment that focuses on inclusion and provides all the support and flexibility you need to enable you to thrive with us.

We have a critical purpose to protect energy consumers as Great Britain’s energy system changes. Join us and help shape an approach to energy system costs that works fairly and effectively for the people who ultimately pay them.

Read on and find out more.
