ProMedical is currently seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Glaucoma to join an NHS service in North West England.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in Glaucoma to provide high-quality clinical care within an established ophthalmology service.

The Role

The successful Consultant will provide specialist Glaucoma ophthalmology services, working collaboratively with the wider clinical team to deliver safe, effective and high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Providing Consultant-level Ophthalmology care with a specialist focus on Glaucoma.
  • Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients with Glaucoma and related conditions.
  • Undertaking appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of expertise.
  • Reviewing new and follow-up patients in outpatient settings.
  • Supporting appropriate treatment planning and ongoing patient management.
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary ophthalmology team.
  • Supporting junior doctors and other healthcare professionals through supervision and teaching where appropriate.
  • Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service development.
  • Maintaining high standards of patient safety and professional practice.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Specialist Register status in Ophthalmology, or relevant Consultant-level experience.
  • Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in Ophthalmology.
  • Specialist experience in Glaucoma.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to clinical governance and high-quality patient care.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience within an NHS Glaucoma service.
  • Experience with a broad range of Glaucoma assessment and management.
  • Experience undertaking relevant Glaucoma procedures.
  • Previous experience supervising or teaching junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of involvement in audit, quality improvement or service development.
