Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading, award-winning Construction Consultancy based in Nottingham City Centre.



Please note - this opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a senior position, or an existing Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge. Candidates with strong transferable skills will also be considered.

Based in Central Nottingham, they offer a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse and high-profile workload, with the autonomy to shape projects and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.



You will work on exciting schemes across the East Midlands, spanning sectors including commercial, heritage, defence, residential, infrastructure, retail, healthcare and more.



Role



As a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will take a lead role in delivering projects from inception to completion, managing client relationships, and providing strategic commercial advice.



You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior team members, and ensure best practice is implemented across all aspects of cost management.



This role is ideal for a commercially astute professional based in Nottingham or the wider East Midlands, with a proven track record across a range of built environment projects.



Responsibilities



As Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):



Leading the delivery of high-quality cost management services, ensuring outputs meet and exceed client expectations
Managing multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing full project lifecycle delivery in line with company procedures
Preparing and presenting detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and option studies
Providing strategic input into procurement and commercial strategies
Preparing tender documentation, managing tender processes, and developing tender evaluation criteria
Leading tender evaluations and providing clear, concise recommendations to clients
Managing post-contract duties including valuations, variations, and cost reporting
Settling final accounts and ensuring financial closure of projects
Acting as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent where required
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members


Person



The successful candidate will have:

A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent)
Significant experience within Mechanical, Electrical and/or Plumbing (M&E) quantity surveying
A strong track record delivering projects across multiple sectors
Advanced knowledge of cost estimating, planning, and commercial management
In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and procurement strategies
Extensive experience in post-contract cost management
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive, methodical, and solution-focused approach
Strong negotiation, financial, and analytical skills
A clear understanding of construction legislation and contract frameworks
Ability to manage complex information and provide strategic insight
