This construction consultancy manages projects across various sectors including public buildings, residential developments, education facilities, healthcare construction, retail fit-outs, automotive projects, and commercial developments throughout Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.
Role
As an Associate Director Building Surveyor, you'll operate alongside a cohesive team of industry-leading construction professionals, playing a key role in mentoring developing Building Surveyors whilst working closely with Directors and Senior Management to drive team growth and business development initiatives.
You'll be offered a mixture of traditional building surveying services and project-based construction work, alongside management opportunities to become integral to the Birmingham office's success.
Responsibilities
An Associate Director Building Surveyor based in Birmingham you will be responsible for:
Leading building surveying services including planned preventative maintenance / condition surveys, contract administration, defects consultancy, dilapidations advice, licences for alterations, reinstatement cost assessments, schedules of condition, and technical due diligence (TDD)
Managing key stakeholder relationships across Birmingham based construction projects, seeking feedback to ensure instructions are delivered on time and to a high standard
Driving operational efficiency through improved communications, transparent project delivery processes and information exchange across construction teams
Developing business connections both internally within the consultancy and externally across Birmingham’s construction sector to build pipeline opportunities
Creating marketing materials including case studies, pitch content, and promotional materials for the building surveying team and broader construction consultancy division
Contributing to team success through both financial performance and non-financial activities, promoting the team and business culture positively.
Supporting team delivery on ad hoc construction projects where workload demand requires additional senior building surveying expertise
Person
A successful Associate Director Building Surveyor for this Birmingham construction consultancy will possess:
Essential Qualifications:
Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or related construction discipline (or equivalent professional qualification)
RICS membership or eligibility
Minimum 5-8 years' experience in building surveying within construction consultancy environment
Desirable Experience:
Project management experience within construction sector
Contract administration expertise (NEC, JCT contracts knowledge beneficial)
Employers' agent experience on construction projects
Health & safety knowledge including CDM regulations
Principal Designer experience under CDM 2015
Key Skills:
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities for client relationship management
Excellent written skills for drafting reports, negotiating settlements and presenting evidence
