OR116522 – Commercial Plumber / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Facilities & Environment

Work Pattern: 36 hours per week, Mon – Fri

PAYE Pay Rate: £24.50 per hour

Main Purpose

To carry out planned and reactive maintenance across Camden’s schools, children’s centres, community buildings and council workplaces. The role focuses on commercial plumbing, heating, hot and cold-water systems and associated mechanical plant.

Typical Day

• Complete planned and reactive plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs and minor installations.
• Maintain pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, calorifiers, booster sets and valves.
• Carry out TMV servicing and support water hygiene tasks.
• Identify root causes and recommend remedial works.
• Update job records, findings and materials on the mobile maintenance system.
• Work safely within occupied public buildings.
• Support and mentor a plumbing apprentice.
• Travel independently between Camden sites using a council vehicle.

Essential Requirements

• Recognised Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent.
• Strong commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Full Manual UK driving license.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
