The Opportunity

ProMedical is currently seeking an experienced Locum Consultant in General Medicine to join an NHS service in the East of England.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Physician to provide high-quality medical care within an established multidisciplinary team and contribute to the ongoing delivery of the service.

The Role

The successful Consultant will provide Consultant-level General Medicine services, assessing and managing patients across the service and working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Providing Consultant-level care to patients with a broad range of medical conditions.
• Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and complex medical presentations.
• Reviewing patients and developing appropriate treatment and management plans.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• Supporting junior doctors through supervision, teaching and clinical guidance.
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service development.
• Maintaining high standards of patient safety and professional practice.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Specialist Register status in the relevant medical specialty, or relevant Consultant-level experience.
• Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in General Medicine.
• Broad experience in the assessment and management of general medical patients.
• Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to clinical governance and high-quality patient care.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience within an NHS acute hospital medical service.
• Experience managing complex medical inpatients.
• Previous experience supervising or teaching junior medical staff.
• Evidence of involvement in audit, quality improvement or service development.
