1:1 Teaching Assistant

Job description

Pollington CE Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, committed and engaging Teaching Assistant Level 1 to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a named child in our Year 4/5 class. This is an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive team that is passionate about helping every child flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

As part of a thriving federation of schools, we benefit from strong collaboration, shared expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our Christian vision and values are at the heart of everything we do, creating a nurturing environment where children and staff are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, SEND staff, parents and external professionals to provide high-quality support tailored to the child's individual needs. We are looking for someone who is patient, flexible and able to build positive relationships with children and families.

Criteria

  • Experience of working in an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including supporting children who are neurodivergent, e.g. those with autism and ADHD
  • Ability to support children’s learning, development and well-being.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A willingness to contribute positively to the life and values of the school.
  • Experience of supporting children with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies that support communication, emotional regulation and inclusion.
  • This post is offered on a fixed-term basis and will cease when the support is no longer required or when the named child leaves the school.

We strongly encourage prospective applicants to visit the school and see first-hand the warm and inclusive environment that makes Pollington CE Primary School such a special place to work.

The School and the Federation are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
