About the role
Abercrombie Primary School is a lovely, welcoming and well-regarded school at the heart of our community, where children’s happiness, wellbeing and progress sit at the centre of everything we do. The Headteacher and Governors are seeking to appoint a committed and caring Teaching Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of complex needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and senior leaders to provide high-quality support tailored to individual pupils' needs.
We are looking for someone who:
- works confidently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
- has experience of, or a strong interest in, supporting children with SEND and complex needs
- is patient, nurturing and committed to helping every child succeed
- can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- is flexible, proactive and able to adapt support to meet the changing needs of children
We can offer you:
- a friendly, supportive and welcoming school community
- the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with additional needs
- ongoing professional development and high-quality training, both in-house and externally
- the chance to work alongside experienced and dedicated colleagues who are passionate about inclusion
If you are enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to supporting children with SEND to thrive, we would be delighted to hear from you. We warmly welcome applications from candidates who share our vision of ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed.
If you are interested in the post then we would be very happy to hear from you. Visits to the school are strongly encouraged so that you can meet our wonderful children and staff and also be sure that our school is the right fit for you. Please contact our School Business Managers, Jenny Mellors/Lucy Wright to arrange this at your convenience.
Provisional Interview Date: 21 October 2026
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
