Semi-Skilled Labourer x 7 Posts
(Unit 4 – Middlefields Industrial Estate)
£29,542 pa with the addition of a temporary Market Forces Supplement of £4,856 (This supplement is awarded in recognition of current market conditions and is subject to review)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for seven Semi-Skilled Labourers to join our Property Services Team.

We are looking for motivated, skilled and customer-focused Semi-Skilled Labourers who share our commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and service excellence.

As a Semi-Skilled Labourer, you will play a key role in delivering a wide range of labouring works across occupied and vacant properties, as well as supporting projects within both domestic and commercial settings throughout South Tyneside.

Your duties will include:
  • Carrying out skilled labouring duties in a responsible and respectful manner.
  • Undertaking training to meet the requirements of South Tyneside Council.
  • Ensuring that the job is completed within a specified time frame, in a professional manner and to customers satisfaction.
  • The appropriate driving of vehicles.
  • Clearing the construction site of vegetation or carrying out any other site clearance.
  • Removing old drainage or other pipework systems.
  • Leading any necessary demolition required to enable site work.
  • Preparing the ground for the building team to lay the foundations.
  • Setting up the construction site.
  • Digging trenches and laying concrete.
  • Laying pavement, driveways and kerbs.
  • Installing new chambers and UG drains
  • Being able to use architects’ drawings and structural engineers’ specifications.
  • Knowing how to operate plant machinery, including trucks and excavators.
  • Working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet service targets and customer expectations.
  • Prioritising workloads effectively to ensure repairs and projects are completed safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of customer care when working within residents' homes and communities.
