About the role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Art Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in Wolverhampton. This is a temporary opportunity starting immediately and continuing until further notice. This is a full time role, working hours 8am – 4pm.
This role would suit an experienced Art Technician or a candidate with transferable skills gained from creative, educational, workshop, design, or studio-based environments.
The Role
As an Art Technician, you will provide practical and administrative support to the Art Department, helping teachers deliver engaging and creative lessons while ensuring resources, materials, and equipment are prepared and maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing materials, equipment, and resources for Art lessons.
- Supporting teaching staff with classroom and practical activities.
- Maintaining and organising art supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.
- Assisting with the display of student artwork throughout the school.
- Ensuring the art department remains tidy, organised, and safe.
- Supporting with health and safety procedures within practical art areas.
- Assisting with exhibitions, displays, and school art events.
Requirements
Essential:
- Previous experience working as an Art Technician within a school setting or experience in a role with transferable skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a secondary school environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures relating to art materials and equipment.
- Experience supporting creative, design, craft, workshop, or studio-based activities.
