Electrical Design Engineer (Projects)

Worcester

£37,824 – £61,074 per annum plus excellent benefits inc 8% pension and private healthcare

The Company

Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global machine tool manufacturer, with its UK manufacturing and engineering operation based in Worcester.

An opportunity has arisen within the Engineering Product Groups for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing and introduction of new machine options and technologies.

The Role

• Design, test and validate new machine options and electrical systems.
• Design and approve electrical cabinets, harnesses and associated modifications.
• Provide technical support to production, service and quality teams, including electrical fault-finding and resolving machine breakdowns.
• Support the introduction of new technologies and R&D projects.
• Specify, design and commission electrical test rigs and automation systems.
• Prepare electrical assembly documentation, modification requests and check sheets.
• Identify electrical risks and implement safety improvements.
• Support the standardisation and continuous improvement of electrical systems and designs.
• Read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings and support engineering projects through to implementation.

About You

• HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Previous electrical design experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• CAD experience, ideally Unidraft, Zuken E3 or equivalent.
• Good understanding of electrical engineering principles and electrical systems.
• Experience of electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Basic PLC knowledge, including the ability to read and write programmes.
• Experience with Windchill would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of UKCA/CE standards, risk assessment and Lean Six Sigma would be beneficial.
• Experience of electrical systems and cost analysis would be advantageous.
