About the role

Overview of the role

Phoenix is a leading UK IT solutions and managed service provider, with a deep specialism in the public sector. We work with organisations across government, healthcare, defence, public safety, education, housing, and the charity sector - helping them modernise with confidence across cloud, data and AI, cyber security, and managed services.

Through strategic partnerships with the world's leading technology providers - and a trusted place on the major public sector frameworks - our work has a direct impact on the services that millions of people rely on every day.

We are hiring a Solutions Specialist to work alongside account owners to identify and develop opportunities across our professional services, managed services and strategic vendor portfolio. This role will support customer engagement and increase Phoenix’s services and solutions footprint within existing and new Education customers.

What will you be doing?

  • Partnering with account teams to qualify and develop services and managed services opportunities.
  • Supporting customer meetings, discovery sessions and solution discussions.
  • Working with strategic vendors to uncover new opportunities and strengthen our solutions offering.
  • Helping customers understand how Phoenix's services can address their business and technology challenges.
  • Collaborating with solution specialists, delivery teams and vendors to develop compelling customer propositions.
  • Contributing to pipeline growth, forecasting and opportunity management activities.
  • Supporting larger and more complex opportunities led by Account Managers.
  • Expanding Phoenix's services and solutions footprint within both existing and prospective Education customers.

Why should you apply?

At Phoenix, our ambition is to be the UK's leading IT solutions and managed service provider - and we know that only happens because of our people. Culture isn't an afterthought here; it's the thing we work hardest on.

We're proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work®, and to be recognised on their UK Best Workplaces lists for Women, Wellbeing, and Development. These aren't badges we chase - they're the result of how we genuinely choose to treat each other, and how seriously we take our colleagues' careers, health, and lives outside of work.

When you join Phoenix, you can expect:

  • A culture built on trust and belonging: set out clearly in our Culture Blueprint, lived day-to-day, and reflected in our consistently strong colleague feedback.
  • Real investment in your development: structured learning pathways, funded industry certifications, mentoring, and the encouragement to stretch into new areas.
  • A workplace that takes wellbeing seriously: from mental health support and flexible working to active employee networks and a leadership team that listens.
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion: where we actively work to make Phoenix a brilliant place to build a career, whoever you are.
  • Work that matters: supporting the public sector organisations that keep the UK running, from government and healthcare to defence, public safety, education, housing, and the charities serving the most vulnerable in our communities.
  • Working with the best of the industry: alongside genuine experts, and with strategic partnerships across the world's leading technology providers, you'll be at the front of the conversations shaping how UK public services modernise.

We believe in encouraging, supporting, and skilling our people up so that you can be the very best you can be at work - and we'd love you to consider being part of it.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for a commercially minded and collaborative individual with a passion for helping customers solve business challenges through technology.

You might come from a sales, pre-sales, project management, service delivery or managed services background. What's most important is your ability to engage customers, understand their requirements and work alongside colleagues to develop solutions that create value.

You'll be comfortable working in an overlay-style role, influencing opportunities across multiple accounts rather than owning a dedicated customer base. You'll enjoy building relationships, supporting customer conversations and helping drive successful outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

While experience within the Education sector would be beneficial, it is not essential. We are open to individuals from a variety of technology backgrounds who are keen to develop their knowledge and expertise within this space.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven ability to identify, develop and support the successful closure of services, managed services or solution-led opportunities.
  • Good understanding of managed services and wider IT solutions, including areas such as cloud, infrastructure, security and support services.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience of pipeline management, forecasting and opportunity development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers, colleagues and vendor partners.
  • Experience working collaboratively across sales, technical and delivery teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
  • Ability to conduct discovery conversations and translate customer challenges into effective technology solutions.
  • A consultative and outcome-focused approach to customer engagement.
  • Knowledge of key technology vendors such as AWS, Dell, Lenovo, ServiceNow, Rubrik, Tanium or Wasabi would be advantageous.
  • Experience working within the Education sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
