About the Role

Are you a university student looking for flexible work that fits around your studies? Do you want to gain hands-on experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Source Supply is working in partnership with a SEND school in Sheffield and is seeking university students and recent graduates who are passionate about working with children and young people with additional needs as a teaching assistant

This role is ideal for students studying Education studies with SEND, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Coaching and Education, Nursing or other related courses, particularly those with relevant experience supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties. You’ll be helping to transfer your academic knowledge into practical classroom experience, supporting pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing.

About the role:
You will be supporting pupils within a SEND school environment, working with children who have:

• Autism (ASC)
• Complex needs
• Moderate learning difficulties (MLD)
• Speech and language difficulties

Requirements

Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications, and training. All successful applicants will:

• Have experience working with children, young people or young adults in a school or specialist setting either prior work experience or on placement.
• Be resilient, compassionate and empathetic
• Demonstrate a nurturing, patient, and consistent approach
• Have referenceable experience from a school or educational environment
• Be passionate about education and committed to helping young people thrive
• Be an excellent communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
