Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Civil Engineer to join a growing project delivery team in South Devon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer with proven industry experience who enjoys combining project delivery, contract administration and commercial management responsibilities. Working across a variety of small to medium-sized construction projects, you'll play a key role in coordinating site activities, managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

The role offers a varied split between office-based project management activities and regular site visits across the UK, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and practical aspects of project delivery.

Key Duties

• Manage construction projects from mobilisation through to completion and final handover.

• Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors and suppliers throughout project delivery.

• Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.

• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.

• Administer construction contracts and manage variations, risk mitigation measures and commercial requirements.

• Prepare and review project programmes, RAMS and construction documentation.

• Support safe site operations and ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation.

• Work closely with technical and design teams to resolve construction and engineering challenges.

• Produce project reports, quality documentation and completion records.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

• Significant proven experience delivering UK construction or civil engineering projects.

• Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost reporting and commercial performance.

• Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT construction contracts.

• Experience procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.

• Good understanding of construction Health & Safety requirements and CDM regulations.

• Experience preparing or reviewing RAMS and project documentation.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective client and stakeholder relationships.

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and project planning software.

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.

• Applicants must have unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is unavailable.

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards it, is desirable.

• SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS or similar construction-related certifications are desirable.

• Experience delivering projects within infrastructure, water, environmental or specialist civil engineering sectors is desirable.

• Experience working on Design & Build projects is desirable.

• Knowledge of permitting, environmental approvals or construction activities within sensitive environments is desirable.

• Interest in sustainable engineering, conservation or environmental improvement projects is desirable.
