About the role

 

Time Appointments are working on behalf of a fantastic, well-established client and specialist in their field, who are looking to welcome an Accounts Assistant to their friendly team based in Clacton-on-Sea.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a range of accounting functions, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger activities, whilst ensuring the day-to-day finance operations run smoothly and accurately.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Managing purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
  • Matching, coding and processing invoices and dealing with supplier queries
  • Raising sales invoices and allocating customer payments
  • Reconciling supplier and customer accounts
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations and general ledger postings
  • Processing payments and supporting credit control activities
  • Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
  • Assisting with VAT returns and other routine accounting requirements
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider finance team
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure financial processes are completed accurately and on time

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
  • Good knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger processes
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting software, preferably Sage 50
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently while also being a proactive team player
  • A methodical and organised approach to work
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
