Are you a creative Design Technology teacher who wants the freedom and resources to bring ambitious ideas to life?

An established independent preparatory school in Kent is looking for an inspiring Design Technology specialist to take a leading role in its DT and digital learning provision.

This is much more than a traditional DT teaching position. The school is looking for someone who can inspire pupils through product design, engineering, coding, robotics and practical problem-solving, while also helping to drive the use of technology across the wider school.

The school has invested significantly in its facilities and resources, including a dedicated robotics lab, and offers exciting extracurricular opportunities such as a Motorsports Club where pupils design and build go-karts. Pasted markdown

The Role

You will become the school’s key Design Technology teacher, predominantly working with pupils through KS2 and KS3, and will have the opportunity to shape and develop an engaging, forward-thinking curriculum.

The school is particularly interested in someone who can bring together:

• Design Technology & Product Design
• Engineering and practical construction
• Coding and Computing
• Robotics
• CAD / digital design
• STEM projects
• Creative problem-solving and design thinking
• Digital technology across the curriculum

Alongside DT, the school would like the successful candidate to take a lead in IT and digital learning, supporting pupils and colleagues in making effective use of technology. The school works across Apple and Microsoft platforms, so confidence with educational technology and an enthusiasm for developing digital provision would be highly valued.

You will have considerable scope to develop projects and enrichment opportunities, with the existing curriculum encouraging pupils to design, make, test, evaluate and refine their work, while making connections between creativity, STEM, digital technology, sustainability and enterprise. Who Are We Looking For?

The school is open-minded about background and is particularly interested in finding someone with the practical skills, teaching experience and enthusiasm to make the department their own.

QTS is not essential, but previous teaching experience is required.

You could come from a background in:

• Design Technology
• Product Design
• Engineering
• Computing / Digital Technology
• Robotics
• STEM education

You should be confident engaging pupils, managing a classroom and delivering practical, hands-on learning. The successful candidate will also be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of an independent prep school, including enrichment, clubs and pastoral responsibilities.
