Assistant Financial Accountant

Our client, is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, robust controls and statutory compliance across its standalone company and overseas entities. This is a permanent opportunity for a finance professional with experience in month-end accounting, reconciliations and VAT compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and other accounting adjustments.
• Support the timely completion of month-end close processes, management accounts and financial reporting.
• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Monitor aged balances and ensure supporting documentation is complete, accurate and audit-ready.
• Prepare periodic VAT returns, maintain indirect tax records and support VAT audits and tax authority enquiries.
• Assist with external and internal audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations and supporting evidence.
• Support compliance with accounting standards, financial controls, company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis, assist with statutory accounts preparation and maintain accurate financial records.

Job Requirements:

• Part-qualified accountant studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent qualification, or qualified by experience.
• Experience in month-end accounting processes, journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Understanding of VAT principles, indirect tax records and statutory compliance requirements.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial systems or ERP platforms such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and sound financial control awareness.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP, financial reporting requirements and audit support would be advantageous.
