Senior Hardware Systems Engineer (Contract) - Portsmouth (Broad Oak)
A leading organisation in the defence and security sector is looking for a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to join their team on-site at Broad Oak, Portsmouth. This is a contract role supporting complex maritime programmes, covering hardware design, test, installation and in-service engineering support.

What you'll be doing
- Producing design, test and installation documentation
- Supporting design proving, including environmental and EMC considerations
- Investigating and resolving hardware/design issues
- Designing and building electrical/hardware systems to achieve Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT(E))
- Supporting development systems and related engineering activities
- Installing and setting to work hardware onboard ship
- Working to configuration control processes and maintaining baselines
What we're looking for (essential)
- Experience in a hardware engineering domain
- Experience developing equipment using COTS hardware components
- Good understanding of blade and PC-based technologies
- Proactive, can-do approach with flexibility to support across the team
Desirable experience
- Working in a large, complex multi-project environment
- COTS enclosures (units/cabinets), design, wiring schedules, power distribution
- Background in defence or another highly regulated industry
Qualifications
- Academic qualification in Engineering (or related STEM)
- Professional registration is advantageous
