Cleaner with Key Holder Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a part-time Cleaner to start as soon as possible. The successful applicant will be reliable, able to work on his or her own initiative, as well as being able to work as part of a team. In addition to undertaking general cleaning duties and a deeper clean during school closures, the postholder will become a trusted key holder and will be responsible for the locking up and securing school premises at the end of the day.

The role is Monday - Friday 2:45PM - 6:45PM, working term-time + 3 weeks across the school holidays.

Holidays are to be taken during school holiday time.

You will be responsible for

1. Undertake cleaning of allocated areas in line with specified standards and as directed. Includes cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying of litter bins, polishing and dusting of the designated areas (which may include toilets) and fixtures and fittings, using where appropriate, powered equipment.

2. Operate / use domestic and industrial cleaning equipment and materials, following appropriate training

3. Store allocated equipment and materials safely and securely

4. Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations (COSHH) and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately

5. Collect and dispose of waste

6. Refill and replace soap, towels and other materials

7. To lock up and secure school premises at the end of each day. This includes setting building alarms

8. Undertake specialised and deep cleaning programmes during school closures or other designated periods.

9. Responsible along with all members of the school for the safeguarding and welfare of pupils

10. To perform other duties considered reasonable, that are commensurate with the grading and designation of the post.
