Inclusion Centre Manager

We are seeking a calm, confident and committed Inclusion Centre Manager to lead our Inclusion Centre at King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy.

This is an important role within our pastoral provision, supporting pupils who may be experiencing barriers to successful engagement with learning. The successful candidate will create and maintain a calm, purposeful and supportive environment in which pupils are encouraged to reflect on their choices, take responsibility for their actions and develop the skills and strategies needed to successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons.

Working closely with our pastoral, SEND, safeguarding and teaching teams, you will coordinate and deliver targeted interventions, support pupils at risk of suspension or disengagement, and work with families and external professionals to secure positive outcomes. You will also oversee pupils’ reintegration into mainstream learning, monitor the impact of interventions and use behaviour, attendance and pastoral information to help identify where further support may be required.

We are looking for someone who can build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. You will need to be resilient, organised and able to remain calm when responding to challenging situations. Experience of supporting young people with behavioural, emotional, social or pastoral needs will be important, alongside a strong commitment to inclusion and the belief that every pupil can make positive choices and succeed.

You will share our academy values and be bold in addressing barriers to learning and advocating for pupils, ambitious for what every young person can achieve, collaborative in working with colleagues, families and external professionals, and above all kind in the relationships you build and the support you provide.

About the Academy Trust

The King Edward VI Foundation, Birmingham, is a progressive charitable organisation which has supported excellence in education across the city since 1552. Our schools are diverse in nature but have a common purpose and commitment to achieving our mission of “making Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK”.

Our Academy Trust currently consists of two independent schools, six selective, and five non-selective academies. Our recent expansion into a wider diversity of local communities is enabling us to accelerate our strategies for improving the life chances of young people in Birmingham, whatever their background.

The King Edward VI Academy Trust Birmingham (“the Academy Trust”) was established in 2017 and is made up of the academies outlined above. The academies receive back office central support services including governance, from the Foundation Office (a central support services function), with several staff being seconded from the Foundation to deliver support services to the Academy Trust and the academies themselves.

Our highly focused five-year strategy aims to build on our existing strengths and heritage and deliver our ambitious growth strategy which aims to bring in a further five academies over the next five years.
