Challenging Behaviour SEN TA

PK Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in specialist schools across the Sheffield area. You’ll support children who may display low-level challenging behaviour, using sensory equipment and activities to help them engage in learning and feel comfortable in the classroom.

The role

• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, following their individual needs and routines

• Use sensory resources to encourage engagement, communication and regulation

• Respond to behaviour calmly and consistently, working alongside the class teacher and wider team

• Provide personal care when required, with dignity and respect

Desirable qualities

• Experience working with children with SEND in a school or another professional setting

• A patient, adaptable approach and experience supporting low-level challenging behaviour

• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one to work in schools

• Willingness to travel up to an hour to reach specialist school placements
