Data Modeller
Location: Swindon (travel, approximately 1-2 days per month)
Contract Length: Until 31st March 2027 with potential extension

Were supporting a major public sector organisation in the search for an experienced Data Modeller to play a key role in the ongoing enhancement and expansion of a large-scale enterprise data warehouse environment.

This is an opportunity to help shape enterprise-wide analytical capabilities, delivering trusted, scalable data models that support reporting, self-service analytics, advanced analytics, automation and AI-driven initiatives across multiple business domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise-scale dimensional data warehouse solutions using Kimball methodology
• Develop and enhance fact tables, conformed dimensions, hierarchies, bus matrices and star schemas
• Create conceptual, logical and physical data models
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable analytical data structures
• Work closely with architects, engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions
• Facilitate data modelling workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
• Support enterprise reporting, self-service analytics and future AI/ML capabilities
• Contribute to data governance, data quality and data standardisation initiatives
• Ensure data models align with organisational governance frameworks and regulatory requirements
• Produce model specifications and documentation for engineering and ETL teams

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing Kimball dimensional data warehouse solutions
• Excellent understanding of star schema data modelling
• Experience integrating source data into existing enterprise warehouse models
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills
• Enterprise data warehouse experience within complex organisations
• Ability to translate business processes into scalable analytical data models
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working across multiple data domains and business functions

Desirable Experience

• Data governance, data lineage and business glossary initiatives
• Tableau or other BI reporting environments
• Self-service analytics platforms
• AI, machine learning or advanced analytics data platform enablement
• Public sector experience

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled Data Modeller with a strong background in enterprise data warehousing and dimensional modelling. Youll be comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving modelling best practice and helping establish a trusted, governed data environment that supports strategic decision-making.
