Yard Supervisor - Civil Engineering & Highways

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established civil engineering and highways contractor with a longstanding reputation for delivering infrastructure and public realm projects across the North West.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Yard Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of their busy depot, ensuring materials, plant, vehicles and equipment are effectively managed to support multiple live projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with construction, highways, utilities, plant or logistics experience who is looking to join a stable and growing business.

Key Responsibilities
Open and secure the depot each day, ensuring site safety and security procedures are followed.
Maintain accurate records of all materials, plant and equipment entering and leaving the yard.
Manage stock levels and ensure materials are available to support operational requirements.
Issue and control PPE stock, maintaining accurate records.
Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment, including forklifts where required.
Fuel and organise plant and vehicles within the yard.
Ensure welfare units, vehicles and plant are clean, maintained and fully stocked.
Coordinate deliveries and collections to support site operations.
Monitor plant, vehicle and equipment condition and report faults as required.
Liaise with operational teams to coordinate repairs, servicing and maintenance requirements.
Enforce yard safety procedures and monitor compliance with company policies.
Support health, safety, environmental and quality management processes.
Carry out minor maintenance and repair works around the depot.
Respond to emails and maintain accurate electronic records.
Provide support to additional company depots when required.

Requirements
Essential
Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, highways, utilities, plant hire or a similar environment.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
Team player with a positive attitude.

Desirable
Previous supervisory experience.
Forklift Counterbalance Licence.
First Aid qualification.
Knowledge of plant, vehicle and equipment management.
Understanding of health and safety procedures within a construction environment.
