Teaching Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children and young people aged 3 to 19 who have a wide range of complex special educational needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex communication needs. Many pupils require highly personalised support to access learning, develop independence, build communication skills, and achieve their individual outcomes. Based on specialist provision supporting pupils with complex learning, physical, sensory, and communication needs.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, autism, and complex additional needs.
• Help implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet a wide range of learning abilities and developmental needs.
• Support pupils who use alternative communication methods, including visual supports, communication aids, and specialist strategies.
• Assist with personal care, feeding, mobility, and physical support where required.
• Encourage independence, social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families to provide consistent and effective support for every pupil.

What You’ll Need

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, SLD, PMLD, physical disabilities, or complex needs.
