As a Trainee Electrical Supervisor at NY Highways, you'll support the delivery and maintenance of street lighting infrastructure across one of England's largest highway networks, serving communities from the coast to the Dales.
Your work will be varied and can include:
• Leading a team replacing ageing lighting assets
• Coordinating emergency fault repairs
• Supporting EV charging infrastructure projects
• Carrying out HEA/HERS assessments
• Working with clients and contractors on major schemes
• Developing apprentices and new starters

You will be able to use your industry knowledge and experience to support work streams for both planned and emergency programmes of work, making sure they fit in with time, safety, and financial timescales. You will maintain accurate records of site activities and setting financial budgets and you will be responsible for ensuring your team are compliant and have their HEA portfolio and assessments up to date.
You will be able to motivate others and be confident leading and mentoring junior colleagues including the onboarding of new starters and apprentices. Taking part in staff appraisals, being a support for your colleagues and setting safety performance measures will all be important aspects of this role whilst developing your skills as a leader.
We welcome applications from experienced Street Lighting Electricians, Chargehands, Team Leaders and Supervisors ready to take the next step in their career. We will offer the support and training needed in your role to enable you to progress from trainee to supervisor level, allowing you to progress in your career when a role becomes available.
To be successful in this role you will have:
• City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical installation
• Wiring Regulations - 18 th Edition
• Experience in highway Electrical related activities as an agent, supervisor or equivalent, undertaking, repairs, testing & new infrastructure installation
• Knowledge of current guidance and legislation with respect to street lighting, electrical design, inspection and maintenance.
• Ability to reach sites across North Yorkshire
