Communications Officer

Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for digital engagement and helping people access the information and support they need?

We're looking for a Communications Officer to join our busy Communications Team, helping to deliver engaging campaigns and content across a range of channels. A key focus of the role will be supporting health and wellbeing communications, alongside promoting council services, projects and priorities.

Working with colleagues across the council and partner organisations, including health partners, you'll create content for social media, newsletters and media channels, helping residents stay informed and connected. You'll help plan and deliver campaigns, develop compelling stories, monitor performance and use insights to improve engagement.

The role includes:

• Creating engaging content for digital and social media channels.
• Supporting health improvement, behaviour change and public information campaigns.
• Writing news stories, media releases and campaign materials.
• Monitoring media and social media activity as well as suporting our newsdesk.
• Using analytics and audience insight to measure and improve impact.

We're looking for someone with excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of digital communications and social media, and the ability to explain complex information in clear, plain English. You'll be organised, creative and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in health communications, public sector communications, local government or the NHS would be beneficial but is not essential.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
