This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in public health whilst undertaking a fully funded degree apprenticeship programme. As a Public Health practitioner apprentice, you will support the Public Health team and wider council to deliver on commitments to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce inequalities within the population it serves.

The Role

Working as part of a team of specialists, you will support activities to improve the health of our residents. the apprentice will contribute to projects, programmes and partnerships across a wide range of public health priorities, including healthy weight, mental wellbeing, substance misuse, physical activity, food, health protection, children and young peoples’ health and wider determinants. The role will enable and strengthen collaboration and partnership working across services.

What will you be doing?

The apprentice will be required to successfully complete an approved degree apprenticeship programme and demonstrate the application of learning to workplace.

This is an entry-level apprenticeship opportunity designed for individuals who are seeking to develop their skills and qualifications through a structured learning programme.   This role is intended as a developmental opportunity for individuals wishing to build a career in public health through an apprenticeship pathway.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for three years, linked to the funding. Due to the funding conditions, the successful candidate must be in post no later than 30 November 2026.  Prospective candidates should only consider an application if they are able to start in post no later than 30 November 2026.
