SEND Learning Support – DN9

SEND Secondary Teaching Assistant | DN9 | Immediate Start

We are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in DN9. The role involves providing targeted support to students with special educational needs and helping them access learning both inside and outside the classroom. This is a temporary, long term role with the opportunity to make a difference to the learning of students.

What We’re Looking For:
• An understanding of SEND and individual learning needs with the ability to provide 1 to 1 and small group support
• Patience and consistency when supporting students
• The ability to work closely with teachers and support staff
• A commitment to helping students make progress

Relevant experience within education, care, youth work or support work will be considered.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:
• Provide 1 to 1 and small group support to students with SEND
• Help students access and participate in classroom learning
• Adapt activities and resources where appropriate
• Support students with communication and interaction needs
• Provide pastoral and emotional support within the school environment
• Support positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Work alongside teachers and the school’s SEND team
• Monitor student engagement and communicate relevant information to staff
