Support Worker

Hours of work: 6 hours per week

Days/Times: flexible rota

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour if employed / £18.00 per hour if self-employed.

About the recipient

The individual is female, identifies as non-binary (they/them pronouns) is 22 years old and resides in Beverley. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having Autism, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, EUPD and other comorbidities and mental health struggles

They like/enjoy going out to places

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Meal preparation and some domestic tasks such as bedding changes, laundry, and kitchen tasks.
• Assisting the individual with medication.
• Assisting with and prompting personal care.
• Aiding the individual with financial budgeting.
• Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
• Attending/transporting the individual to appointments.
• Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must:

• Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
• Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
• Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
• Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.
• Must have use of own car, to transport individual to appointments.
• Be comfortable with animals to assist with the individual’s cat.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.
