The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is the largest operator of aviation in Government outside the Ministry of Defence. Its Aviation Branch manages aviation services that support search and rescue, pollution response, maritime law enforcement and wider marine protection activity. The Finance and Data Support role sits within HM Coastguard and supports the Aviation Contract Management Team with the administrative, financial and data management activity needed to help deliver these services effectively.

Job description
The postholder will support the Aviation Contract Management Team with financial administration, invoice verification and data management across MCA aviation contracts. You will help verify flying activity and supplier performance, support invoice processing, generate invoices for stakeholders and collate aviation data to inform reporting and decision-making.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Ensure monthly invoice charges accurately reflect the activity undertaken.
- Confirm monthly invoice charges accurately reflect key performance indicators.
- Verify flying activity using multiple information sources.
- Verify stakeholder use of MCA aviation services.
- Create invoices associated with stakeholder activity.

Person specification
Required experience:
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Experience of working with, or ability to use, Microsoft Excel.
- Experience of working in a similar role with an administrative, financial or data management/statistical focus.
- The ability to work under pressure, deliver to deadlines and work on concurrent tasks.
- Experience of communicating, negotiating and influencing with a range of stakeholders.
Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
Occasional UK travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
