Business Development Manager

The Opportunity

I’m working with a client who is looking for a well-connected Business Development Manager to drive employer engagement and generate new business opportunities across the West Midlands.

This role would suit someone who is already actively networking within the region, regularly attending business events and developing relationships with employers, HR professionals and key decision-makers. You’ll be responsible for identifying workforce challenges and introducing solutions that support recruitment, retention, upskilling and employee development.

This is a consultative sales role focused on building long-term partnerships rather than high-volume cold calling.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop new employer partnerships across the West Midlands.

· Build relationships with business leaders, HR teams and key stakeholders.

· Promote apprenticeship, training and workforce development solutions.

· Attend networking events, business forums and industry meetings.

· Generate and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities.

· Achieve and exceed sales and learner start targets.

· Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver an excellent client experience.

About You

· Proven experience in B2B sales, business development or employer engagement.

· An established network within the West Midlands business community.

· Regularly attend networking events and are confident creating new opportunities through relationship building.

· Strong track record of winning new business and developing accounts.

· Comfortable engaging with senior decision-makers and business owners.

· Self-motivated, commercially driven and target-focused.

· Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

· Experience within apprenticeships, training, recruitment, education or learning & development.

· Knowledge of workforce development and employer-funded training solutions.
