Overview

Our client is seeking Junior to Intermediate Electrical / Controls Engineers with hands-on experience in commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, automation and power systems to support nuclear power generation projects in Ontario.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical, controls or electronic engineering foundation and experience working directly with electrical equipment, automation systems, control systems or power-generation equipment.

This is a technically focused site role suited to an engineer who enjoys testing systems, troubleshooting issues, working with equipment and collaborating with engineering and commissioning teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and testing activities for electrical, automation and control systems.

• Perform and support equipment testing, functional testing, system validation and troubleshooting.

• Review electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, procedures and engineering documentation.

• Support installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical and control equipment.

• Troubleshoot electrical, automation and control-system issues and assist with resolution of deficiencies.

• Support system integration and interface testing between plant equipment and control systems.

• Develop, review and execute commissioning and test procedures.

• Support factory and site acceptance testing where required.

• Analyze test results and identify deficiencies, deviations or performance issues.

• Work closely with engineering, commissioning, construction, operations and vendor teams.

• Provide technical input into equipment and system verification activities.

• Prepare test records, technical documentation and commissioning reports.

• Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable nuclear, electrical, safety and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Approximately 2–7 years of relevant engineering experience in commissioning, testing, controls, automation, power systems or a related field.

• Experience with hands-on testing, troubleshooting or system validation.

• Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls and/or industrial automation.

• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, control logic and engineering specifications.

• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a site-based, multidisciplinary environment.

Codes & Standards

Familiarity with applicable electrical and industry standards such as CSA, CEC, NEC, NFPA and IEC is an asset.

Experience working within a highly regulated engineering environment is strongly preferred.

Nuclear Security Clearance

An active Bruce Power (BP) security clearance is required.

Candidates with an OPG security clearance that is transferable to Bruce Power may also be considered.

Candidates do not necessarily need extensive nuclear experience if they have strong transferable electrical/controls commissioning experience and the required security clearance.

The key is a hands-on technical mindset — someone who can understand how a system works, participate in testing, identify problems and work with engineering/site teams to resolve them.

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently hold a Bruce Power clearance, or an OPG clearance that can be transferred to Bruce Power.
