Team/People Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy warehouse and eCommerce operation based in Batley.

This is a hands-on management role where you will oversee workflow, people, stock movement, online listing activity, dispatch, inventory and quality standards. You will manage through Team Leaders and provide practical oversight to a mixed workforce including warehouse staff, listers, agency workers, trainees, volunteers and corporate groups.

The successful candidate will be commercially minded, highly organised and confident leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment.

Shift/salary:

• FTC 9 months
• Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30
• £14.27 per hour

The role:

• Manage daily warehouse and eCommerce operations, including sorting, photography, listing, books, inventory, dispatch, fulfilment, returns and stock movement.
• Lead, motivate and develop Team Leaders, warehouse operatives, listers, trainees, volunteers and agency staff.
• Plan and control workflow to ensure productivity, quality, dispatch, sales and safety standards are achieved.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management and KPI delivery.
• Create and monitor operational KPIs, scorecards, workload trackers and performance reports.
• Make practical commercial decisions around stock selection, pricing, routing, bundling, relisting, reductions, culling and platform suitability.
• Maintain high standards of listing quality, dispatch performance, customer service and seller ratings.
• Use warehouse management systems, cloud-based software and online marketplaces to manage inventory, fulfilment and stock control.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards are followed, including inductions, risk assessments, PPE, fire procedures, housekeeping and safe systems of work.
• Maintain a safe, organised, inclusive and productive working environment.

The candidate:

• Experience working in a large warehouse, logistics, retail or eCommerce operation.
• Previous people management experience, ideally managing Team Leaders or multiple team members.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience using data to monitor performance and deliver against KPIs.
• Confidence coaching, training and developing individuals and teams.
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to make informed operational decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong IT skills and experience using warehouse, stock, CRM or online marketplace systems.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety within an operational environment.
• A proactive, solution-focused and flexible approach.

Desirable experience:

• Experience working with volunteers, trainees or mixed workforce teams.
• Knowledge of online selling platforms such as eBay or similar marketplaces.
• Experience with second-hand, donated, retail or resale stock.
• Forklift truck experience or licences.
• Experience supporting teams through operational change.

Additional info:

This role is offered on a 9-month fixed term contract and would suit someone with strong warehouse, eCommerce, logistics or retail operations management experience.
