The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in category management or commercial strategy. Working with the Commercial Category Managers, you’ll help develop and deliver category strategies based on customer and market insight.

You’ll gain experience across a broad range of activities, including:

• Researching customers, competitors and market trends to support category and range reviews
• Identifying opportunities for new products, range gaps and Own Brand development
• Supporting range optimisation and making recommendations based on customer insight
• Identifying opportunities across both Own Brand and Branded products
• Creating category marketing collateral, including copy and photography, for use by sales and customer-facing teams
• Supporting the delivery of category campaigns, promotions and events
• Working with internal teams and suppliers to ensure products meet quality, packaging and compliance requirements
• Helping ensure product range remains competitive and aligned with customer needs

The role will give you the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and understand how insight, products, marketing and commercial strategy come together to influence customer purchasing decisions.

Requirements

• A relevant degree
• An ability to use insight to inform actions and commercial decision-making
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with different teams and levels of seniority
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• A commercial, creative and results-orientated approach
• A genuine passion for food and/or product marketing, whether from foodservice, retail or the supply side
