The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the North West with the appointment of a Locum SpR in Emergency Medicine.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Emergency Medicine doctor to join an established Emergency Department and provide high-quality clinical care as part of a busy multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will participate in the full rota, providing clinical support across the Emergency Department, including out-of-hours duties.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide SpR-level Emergency Medicine services across the Trust.

The role will include:

• Assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department
• Providing senior clinical assessment and decision-making
• Managing a broad range of acute and emergency presentations
• Assessing and treating critically unwell and deteriorating patients
• Supporting the management of major and minor injuries as appropriate
• Participating in the full Emergency Medicine rota, including out-of-hours duties
• Working collaboratively with Consultants, junior doctors, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Providing support and clinical supervision to junior colleagues where required
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
• Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Appropriate postgraduate experience in Emergency Medicine
• Previous experience working at SpR level or equivalent
• Broad experience in Emergency Medicine
• Experience managing acute and emergency presentations
• Ability to participate effectively in a full rota
• Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

• Previous NHS experience within an Emergency Department
• Experience managing critically ill and complex emergency patients
• Experience across a broad range of Emergency Medicine presentations
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
