The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in Scotland with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Cardiologist.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Cardiologist to join an established Cardiology service and provide high-quality specialist care to patients across the Trust.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective Cardiology services throughout the assignment, with working arrangements as per rota.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Cardiology services across the Trust.

The role will include:

• Assessment and management of patients presenting with a wide range of Cardiac conditions
• Providing Consultant-level clinical decision-making, diagnosis and treatment
• Managing acute and complex Cardiology presentations
• Undertaking Cardiology clinics and specialist assessments
• Providing specialist advice and support to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team
• Working collaboratively with medical, nursing and wider multidisciplinary colleagues
• Supporting junior medical staff where required
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
• Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Cardiology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
• Previous NHS Consultant-level Cardiology experience
• Broad experience in Cardiology
• Experience assessing and managing a wide range of Cardiac conditions
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience working within an NHS Cardiology department
• Experience across a broad range of Cardiology services
• Experience managing acute Cardiac presentations
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
