Mechanical Engineering Manager

We’re seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to join our client in Chorley. In this role, you’ll lead and develop multidiscipline engineering teams while ensuring the compliant and safe delivery of projects from tender through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, people-focused leader to shape project success and foster innovation. Salary£74,000 to £81,000 – depending on experience Location and Working PatternChorley, Lancashire – on-site staff position Working week: 37 hours over 4 days (Monday to Thursday), plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day Client OverviewOur client is an established engineering solutions provider working on critical projects in regulated environments, including the nuclear sector. They are committed to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement, with a reputation for technical expertise and innovation. ResponsibilitiesLead and manage multidiscipline engineering teams to deliver safe, compliant designs.Define engineering delivery strategies and maintain cost, scope, and schedule baselines.Provide technical direction and approve engineering solutions and outputs.Ensure compliance with UK regulations, legislation, standards, and internal processes.Support bids and business-winning activities by preparing technical proposals.Identify and mitigate risks, implementing recovery plans as necessary.Engage with internal teams, clients, and the supply chain for integrated project planning.Foster a collaborative culture and mentor team members to develop capability. Must-have RequirementsProfessionally registered engineer (or working towards) with a degree-level qualification (Level 6) in a relevant discipline.Proven track record in managing engineering delivery and leading teams.Strong knowledge of UK engineering legislation (e.g., CDM, PUWER, Machinery Directive).Experience managing complex projects, including budgets and schedules.Ability to provide technical assurance and ensure design compliance. Nice-to-have SkillsPrevious experience in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.Understanding of CE/UKCA marking strategies and applicable standards.Familiarity with multidiscipline integration and digital engineering practices. The NRL Group connect global companies with the right people to bring engineering projects to life.
